When the wait wears you down

Lately, I’ve been thinking about the waiting seasons—and how no one really talks about how hard it is to wait on God. Everyone loves to share once they’re on the other side of it... but what about when you’re still in it? What do you do when God is taking His time? When He’s not healing you? When everyone around you is getting married but you? When the spouse or family member you’ve been praying for isn’t getting saved—and instead seems to be getting worse? What do you do when the promotion still isn’t happening? What do you do when you honestly don’t feel like “the wait is worth it”? What do you do when you know He can do it in a second—but He’s choosing not to?

By the way, I don’t have an answer to these questions... I just think we don’t talk enough about the heavy moments—the ones where you don’t even feel like praying anymore because the wait has worn you down. We rarely talk about the discouragement that comes when the promise is delayed... or how frustrating it feels when you’re doing everything right, and yet God still doesn’t seem to move.

In moments like these, it might seem like we've lost faith or that we're doubting God’s greatness—but really, our low moments and frustrations are just a reflection or a reminder that we are human... and that we are weak.

For a fact,we have an example of someone who wasn’t afraid to pour out his heart to God. David expressed all kinds of emotions to Him—his fears, his disappointments, his anger, his sadness... all of it. When you read the Psalms, you almost wonder if David knew he was talking to God—not just a buddy. But that’s the beauty of our God… He understands our emotions, He can handle our pain, and He knows we’re human.

What’s so beautiful about David’s prayers is that he always ended them by reminding his mind and soul of God’s goodness and faithfulness (God's character)—no matter how he felt. Sometimes, he even had to command his heart and honestly, I don’t think he was feeling it at the time when He said: 'Mutima wanje, himbaza Uhoraho: Namwe ibimbamwo vyose, muhimbaze izina ryiwe ryera. Mutima wanje, himbaza Uhoraho; Ntiwibagire ivyiza yakugiriye vyose " (Psm 103: 1-2)

So, as we wait, let’s trust in His character. He is a good Father, and He gives good gifts to those who love Him—it does not matter if you feel it or not, command your heart and soul to praise God in the waiting. Ask Him to open your eyes to what He is doing—just because we don’t see it doesn’t mean He’s not working.

And remember, God never wastes a season—not even the waiting season. He is doing a new thing in you.

On that note, Courage à nous. We will surely get to the promised land, and I guess the waiting will make sense then. But in the meantime, steward this waiting season well—because it won’t last forever.

Byeee.... See you next time.
